Project: Short Circuit / Coordination Studies and Arc Flash Hazard Analysis - Entire Facility
- Data acquisition: BC Hydro fault current levels for the two main 12.47KV supplies were obtained, and facility-wide data gathering was performed on foot, including settings of protective relays, length of distribution cables, size and impedance of transformers and size of motor control centers.
- Short circuit current calculations: Maximum bolted fault current levels were calculated for all major power distribution equipment.
- Protective device coordination study: Settings for existing devices were changed as needed for proper coordination and maximum safety throughout the entire power distribution system. All revised protective relay settings were implemented by our technicians.
- Arc flash hazard analysis: Arc flash incident energy was calculated at selected locations, based on bolted fault current levels. Warning labels showing arc flash hazard boundary, incident energy and risk category were affixed to all applicable power distribution equipment.
